Since 1884
Founded in 1884 by brothers António and Francisco, Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges quickly became one of Portugal's leading winemakers, through a melding of tradition, age-old knowledge, commitment to the land and a passion for wine.
Camões called for “ingenuity and art" to sing "the Lusitanian’s stouter breast"... Thanks to its ingenuity, fine-tuned over more than 135 years, Borges creates wines that are true artforms.
Estates
Borges understands the need to master the entire production process, starting from the planting of the vineyard, which is why we own four of Portugal’s leading estates in the main demarcated regions: Quinta de Simaens and Quinta do Ôro in the Vinho Verde Region; Quinta da Soalheira in the Douro Region and Quinta de São Simão da Aguieira in the Dão Region.

Wines
Borges produces several quality brands for different segments, thanks to our Estates, whose individual identities underpin the character and authenticity of these nectars. The harmony and vitality of our Still Wines are complemented by the unique aromas of our Port Wines and the distinctive elegance of our Sparkling Wines.
Still Wines
Borges still wines are enriched with the unique and distinctive palate that only a history of over 135 years can imbue. When you open a Borges wine, you are whisked away on a journey through three of Portugal’s most important demarcated regions, Vinho Verde, Dão and Douro, as you explore the original essence of each wine.
Port Wines
Borges produces Port Wines whose singular personalities are synonymous with distinction and sector leadership. These are nectars that reflect the dedication and passion of the peoples of Douro who work the land, the vine and the wine. A world of colour palettes, aromas and flavours radiating out from Quinta da Soalheira.
Sparkling Wines
Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges has extensive experience of making sparkling wines using the Classic Method. We took our first steps along this road in the early twentieth century and soon reached a highpoint with the launch of our classic Fita Azul in 1934. Later on, we added the super premium sparkling wines Borges Real Senhor and the iconic Gatão.
Brandy
Borges Brandies pair perfectly with a good coffee or can be drunk on their own as a digestif. We age our brandies in French oak casks and vats in our cellars, to imbue them with nobility and complexity.
